In the processing and production of stainless steel pipes, the process will be different according to different types of stainless steel pipes.


First, Bright Annealing

Metal heat treatment process in which the workpiece is heated to a predetermined temperature and then slowly cooled after holding for a certain time.

(1) Improve or eliminate various arrangement defects and residual stresses formed in the process of steel casting, forging, rolling and welding to prevent workpiece deformation and cracking.

(2) Soften the workpiece for cutting.

(3) Refine the grain and improve the arrangement to improve the mechanical properties of the workpiece.

(4) Make arrangements for final heat treatment and tube making.

Second, Divide, Slitting

The slitting of stainless steel roll is to cut the stainless steel roll into the corresponding width, so that further deep processing and tube making can be carried out. 

In the process of slitting, attention should be paid to the scratch of the slitting knife on the sheet roll, the width and error of the slitting, and the slitting also involves the tube making process, and attention should be paid to the foreskin and burrs when slitting.


Third, Welding, Forming

The most important process of stainless steel pipe, stainless steel is the first choice of argon arc welding and plasma welding, argon arc welding protection gas is pure argon, the main welding of stainless steel pipe below 3mm, plasma welding has a strong penetration, the main welding of 5-8mm stainless steel pipe.


Fourth, Sizing, Cutting

The process of stainless steel welding pipe machine is called kneading production, all square tubes and rectangular tubes are originally from round tubes, after producing round tubes with the same circumference and then kneading into corresponding square tubes and rectangular tubes, and finally shaping and straightening with molds.


Fifth, Polishing

Raw Materials: 

The production of stainless steel pipes starts with the selection of raw materials, primarily stainless steel. 

The main components of stainless steel are iron, chromium, and nickel, with additional elements depending on the specific grade and composition required.


Melting: 

The raw materials are melted in an electric arc furnace or an induction furnace. 

The furnace heats the materials to extremely high temperatures, causing them to melt and form a liquid metal.


Casting: 

Once the raw materials have melted, the liquid metal is poured into molds to create ingots or billets. 

These solidify into the required shape and size, which will be further processed to form the stainless steel pipes.



Hot Rolling: 

The billets are reheated and fed into a rolling mill. They pass through multiple sets of rollers to reduce their thickness and increase their length. 

This process, known as hot rolling, is crucial for forming the desired dimensions of the stainless steel pipes.


Heat Treatment: 

After hot rolling, the pipes undergo heat treatment processes such as annealing or quenching to improve their mechanical properties, including strength, hardness, and ductility. 

Heat treatment is important for enhancing the performance and longevity of the stainless steel pipes.


Cold Rolling or Cold Drawing: 

The pipes may undergo another process called cold rolling or cold drawing. 

Cold rolling involves passing the pipes through a series of rollers at room temperature to further refine their dimensions and surface finish. 

Cold drawing involves pulling the pipes through a die to reduce their diameter and increase their length.


Cutting and Shaping: 

The stainless steel pipes are then cut to the desired lengths using different cutting methods such as sawing or shearing. 

The cut pipes may undergo additional shaping processes like bending, flanging, or threading, depending on the intended application.


Surface Treatment: 

To enhance the corrosion resistance and appearance, the stainless steel pipes often undergo surface treatments such as pickling, passivation, or polishing. 

These treatments remove impurities, oxide layers, and other contaminants, leaving a clean and smooth surface.



Quality Control: 

Throughout the production process, quality control measures are implemented to ensure the pipes meet the required specifications and standards. 

This includes dimensional checks, visual inspection, non-destructive testing, and mechanical testing.


Final Inspection and Packaging: 

Once the stainless steel pipes have passed the quality control tests, they undergo a final inspection to ensure they meet the customer's specifications. 

The pipes are then appropriately packaged for storage, transportation, and delivery to customers.
